Charlie Q.
Yang, Ph.D.
Dr. Yang has over 25 years of
diverse experience in international marketing, China business development,
investment banking and research, and technology management. He serves as
the first President of American China International Business Association
(ACIBA). Dr. Yang is a member of the American Finance Association. He is a
guest host and speaker at leading Asian TV stations including ETTV America; Phoenix TV North America; LA Channel 18; and China Business Network. He is an
international expert certified by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts, the
State Council of the People's Republic of China since 1999. He has also
served as a Director at Shanghai
International Industry Friendship Association since 1995.
Prior to joining Charles Schwab and Schwab Bank as
Vice President - Financial Consultant, he was the Managing Director of
Global Investment Banking at American Eastern Securities, a Member of NASD
and SIPC, and was appointed as the portfolio manager of Luminus Pacific Rim Fund, a member of Luminus Hedge Funds, one of the top funds ranked by
Nelson WorldĄŻs Best Money Managers in 2001.
He has held various management positions with several publicly
traded companies, most recently as Vice President and acting branch manager
at Asia Pacific Services of Charles Schwab (NASDAQ: SCHW). His previous
experiences include Assistant General Manager (China) at Wang Laboratories
(NYSE: WANG), Business Planner at Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT), Product Line
Manager (GM) at Hughes Electronics (NYSE: GMH), Director at Watkins-Johnson
(NYSE: WJ), President and CEO of Beijing Xinwei
Telecom Technology, Chief
Executive Officer at Hartcourt Companies (OTC:
HRCT), and President of Institute of Systematic Investing Research (ISIR). Dr.
Yang was the featured CEO in China Electronic Enterprise magazine (ISSN
1007-2098) published in December 1999 for leading product advancement
towards international standard and 3G wireless evolution.

As a leading
wireless telecommunications expert and China
business development consultant, Dr. Yang has provided services to Chinese
Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and Datang
Telecom Group (on SCDMA and TD-SCDMA) based in Beijing, China.
He has also
provided business and technology consulting services to AirTouch (Vodafone), AT&T, US
West (Qwest), Taiwan Chunghwa Telecom, SVT/Stone Telecom Group, CWill Telecom, Silicon Telecom, Scoreboard, ZTE Telecom
(appointed as Vice President of ZTE Telecom and president of ZTE America), Huawei Technologies, Teletronics
International, MJ Education Group, American Dairy (Feihe
Dairy, NYSE: ADY), and China Automotive Systems (NASDAQ: CAAS).

He served as the
founding president of the Institute for Systematic Investing Research
(ISIR) in 1995. As a pioneer in systematic investing behavioral
finance and an expert in business valuation for investment management
industry, Dr. Yang has developed independent investment research. With the
discovery of Q-Distributions by Dr. Yang in 1994, for the first time in
history, it enabled researchers to generate a family of fat-tailed and
skewed probability distributions for modeling stock prices and asset return
statistics. This later evolved to systematic implementation of Human
Emotion Index capturing and measuring variations in crowd emotion. His
pioneering research in systematic investing was recognized during 1990's by
leading investment firms and individuals such as Scudder Funds and the
pioneer in retirement investment research, Nobel laureate Franco Modigliani.
Dr. Yang holds Master of Applied Science and Ph.D. degrees in
electrical & computer engineering from University
of Victoria of Canada, and a BSEE degree from University of Science and Technology of China. He
received CSC certificate from Canadian Securities Institute of Toronto in
1993, and held qualifications in NASD Series 7 (General Securities), Series
65 and 63 (Registered Investment Adviser), Series 9 and 10 (General
Securities Sales Supervisor, Branch Manager), and Series 86 (Research
Analyst).
He is the recipient of national NSERC scholarships from 1990 ¨C
1992, the prestigious 1994 national Gold
Medal of Governor General of Canada, 1998 Watkins-Johnson
Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding achievement to the
enhancement of long tradition of excellence, and is a 3-time Charles Schwab
Chairman's Club winner.
